SEND IN COMMENTS & SUGGESTIONS TO THE PEM V.1
As noted at the last Plenary, the Privacy Committee has established a quarterly revision process for the Privacy Evaluation Methodology (PEM) and has now entered the first of these update cycles. We therefore invite comments and suggestions regarding how version 1.0 of the PEM might be improved.

Please send/post feedback by June 17th to either:

  1. The Privacy Committee e-mail list (privacy_sc@idecosystem.org)
  2. The PEM v1.0 feedback topic in the General Discussion Forum
  3. Directly to Stuart Shapiro (sshapiro@mitre.org)

Please use only one of these mechanisms so we do not need to de-duplicate comments.

The PEM document and workbook can be found on the Privacy Committee page of the IDESG site: https://www.idecosystem.org/group/privacy-coordination-committee.

THE TIME IS NOW! A CALL TO ACTION FROM THE USER EXPERIENCE COMMITTEE

User Experience (UX) is an umbrella term for the multi-disciplinary user-centered approach to the design and development of interactive systems. This includes usability, human factors, accessibility, interaction design, information architecture, navigation, technical communications, visual design, and related disciplines. The UX approach ensures that all human interaction with a system is designed to give that person a positive user experience. The UX approach is inclusive considering, end-users, persons with disabilities, installers, identity providers, relying parties, system administrators, and all other humans who may interact with any part of the Identity Ecosystem. For the Identity Ecosystem to be successfully adopted, the user experience for all these groups must be positive. Thus, the User Experience Committee was established to ensure that the Identity Ecosystem technologies and solutions adopt the principles of usability to facilitate all humans who interact with the Ecosystem.

While active in the early months of the IDESG, creating a Charter team, a Deliverables team, a Scenarios team, and a History team, momentum was lost as members sought ways to apply UX thinking to IDESG activities. Members of the UXC found homes in other committees working on use cases in the standards committee, or with the ad hoc holistic-images subcommittee and communication subcommittee of the management council, etc. On several occasions the interim leadership of the UXC discussed if this was the right time to "reboot" the UCX. It was strategically decided that the IDESG wasn't ready yet, and needed to get beyond the creation of ROAs and have a better understanding of its goals, before enrolling more UX professionals to get involved and encouraging membership.

Well the time is NOW. Having the User Experience multi-disciplinary approach to design and development embedded into the fabric of the IDESG is needed as we move toward work planning and business planning. It is time for new leadership to take over from the beginnings that the interim leadership started and design and create a work plan for how User Experience is integrated into the future of IDESG. If you would consider taking on a leadership role in the UXC of the IDESG, please contact Kay Chopard Cohen,kay.chopard.cohen@trustedfederal.com of the Secretariat. Also if you know of someone in your organization who could further this cause, please encourage them to participate.
